Leigh Barrett* is thrilled to be your virtual tour guide as she shares with you her pandemic playlist for navigating the highs and lows of life in lockdown, giving you a glimpse into the mixed up musical files of her brain and how she processes things …”Oh look something shiny!”
No stranger to Lyric Stage audiences, she was last seen as Rose in Gypsy, for which she received the 2018 Elliot Norton Award. Among her favorite Lyric Stage roles are Little Edie in Grey Gardens, Florence Foster Jenkins in Souvenir (Elliot Norton), and JoAnne in Company. While she holds her Bachelor of Voice in Opera from Baldwin-Wallace University she has built her extensive resume on area musical stages including the SpeakEasy Stage Co, North Shore Music Theatre, New Repertory Theatre, Greater Boston Stage Company, and Wheelock Family Theatre. Having discovered a love for directing and mentoring the next generation of artists through Lyric First Stage, she continues that work in the virtual world. She has also directed for New Rep, Riverside Theatre Works, and Northeastern University. Leigh is the honored recipient of three Elliot Norton Awards and the 2018 Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence.
Many thanks to the Lyric Stage Company family of humans: Aja, Kate, Matt, and Courtney for their support. Special thank you to Paul and his beautiful Liz for this opportunity to sing my feelings. Leigh is endlessly grateful to the village of people who help her keep it together—in front of the camera, behind it, and in her real life- without whom none of this would have happened—Sue, Ryan, Brendan, The Lads (Travis & Matt, Stu), and Erica.
And especially Peter, Nick, and Matt—I am completely lost without you.
