Mark Shanahan (Playwright) – In addition to A Sherlock Carol (2022 Best New Play Nominee, Off Broadway Alliance), Mark is the author of the stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, written in association with Agatha Christie Ltd., as well as the Off-Broadway and regional hit comedy The Dingdong: Or, Take Me I’m Yours!A Merry Little Christmas Carol, and See Monsters of the Deep. He is also the creator and author of original radio dramas for White Heron Theatre and NPR’s Ghost Light series. His adaptation of The Chronology Protection Case earned an Edgar Award nomination, and he co-wrote the short screenplay Kill Me (Adirondack Film Festival).

As a director, his work has been seen Off-Broadway, regionally, and in London, with productions at New World Stages, The Alley Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse, Irish Repertory Theatre, White Heron Theatre, Florida Repertory Theatre, George Street Playhouse, Virginia Stage Company, Orlando Shakespeare Festival, Mile Square Theatre, Penguin Rep, The Fulton, Arkansas Rep, TheatreSquared, Hudson Stage, Marylebone Theatre and many others.

As an actor, Mark appeared on Broadway in The 39 Steps and Philadelphia, Here I Come!, and Off-Broadway in TrystThe ShaughranSmall WorldCheckersAs Bees in Honey Drown, among others. He has also performed on numerous regional stages across the country.

Mark serves as Artistic Director of the historic Westport Country Playhouse in Westport, CT. He is a graduate of Brown University (BA) and Fordham University (MA) and lives in New York City with his family. www.mark-shanahan.net
